I began following Christ during my college years. Next to Christ, my wife Gloria and our kids are my life. My family has been truly amazed at the genuineness and sincerity with which people serve Christ at Redeemer’s.  I am truly honored to serve as an Elder.

In my college years, God gave me a life verse, Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” For me that meant expressing my love for God through worship, ministry and forestry. I have a passion for seeing people connect relationally and grow in their faith with Jesus.

I enjoy outings with my wife Barb, which may be hiking, cross-country skiing, or just a day trip together. I love to start the day by reading God’s Word and drawing close to Him. I also find fulfillment through encouraging others especially in their relationship with God either by word or deed.

For me there is nothing better than a trip to Cannon Beach with my wife Leslie, two sons, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. A round of golf with friends is time well spent. I have been a member of the last three teams that Redeemer’s has sent to Guatemala, where I have seen God work in and through people and change the lives of so many in the Ixcan.

I love being outdoors whenever possible, preferably with a fishing pole in hand but hunting or doing yard work will suffice. Montana, where my mother lives, is another place very dear to my heart. Spending time with family and friends is always a blessing. Every day I thank God for the life He has given me and the people I share it with.

On temporary leave of absence.

About two years ago God put on my heart that he was preparing me for something. A year later I was invited to attend a meeting for prospective Elders. Seeking God’s will, along with what God has been doing in my heart, I now fully realize that being an Elder is what He wanted me to do. I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, shooting, motorcycle riding, biking, and just working around our home.

I believe I have one of the best jobs in the world, and would rather be teaching the Bible than doing nearly anything else. I also love bicycling, anything Mac, a good story read or told, strong coffee and anything really well-made. I am married to my college sweetheart, Barb, and whenever possible, we enjoy the company of our two grown children, Melissa and Justin as well as granddaughter Ellory.
